How the TIME and Statista Study Was Conducted
The World’s Top EdTech Companies 2026 ranking is the result of a comprehensive quantitative study of the global education technology sector.
Statista evaluated approximately 6,500 companies developing and providing EdTech products and services worldwide. Following a detailed assessment, the 500 highest-performing companies were selected for the final ranking.
The methodology is based on two main pillars:
1. Financial Strength
This dimension includes an assessment of:
revenue;
funding;
market capitalization;
additional financial data gathered from public sources, annual reports, company websites, and information submitted directly by participating companies.
2. Industry Impact
Companies were also evaluated based on:
the impact of their products and services;
alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
the quantity and value of their intellectual property portfolio;
web traffic metrics and overall market relevance.
The final score was calculated using the following weighting:
70% Financial Strength
30% Industry Impact
Rising Stars Ranking
Alongside the main ranking, TIME and Statista also published the Rising Stars list, recognizing young EdTech companies with the highest revenue growth over the past three years.
To qualify, companies had to meet the following criteria:
be no more than 10 years old;
generate at least US$1 million in revenue in 2024;
achieve revenue growth of more than 20% over the previous three years.
European companies featured in the Rising Stars ranking include Brighterly (Ukraine), ubiLearning Solutions (Germany), Tomorrow University (Germany), and EPICODE (Italy).
The ranking provides a snapshot of the global EdTech landscape based on publicly available data and information submitted through the application process. TIME and Statista note that inclusion—or exclusion—from the ranking should not be interpreted as a definitive assessment of a company’s overall quality beyond the criteria used in the study.
