At the end of 2023, EdTech Bulgaria has announced its first STEAM initiative, the empowerSTEAM model. Its aim is to bring together the business sector, public institutions, academia, and NGO and to create a dynamic STEAM ecosystem at the city level. empowerSTEAM encourages talent and skills development in areas such as science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
The empowerSTEAM model provides training in newly created creative STEAM labs and a summer camp. Various interactive festivals, tours, and escape rooms are planned, during which, through the use of different educational approaches and technological tools, various challenges and cases will be solved.
In addition, empowerSTEAM envisages the involvement of participants in the following initiatives:
• STEAM Leader program
• STEAM everywhere – mobile centre, etc.
All components will be organized and managed through a dynamic portal where pupils, students, parents, and adults will have the opportunity to receive additional information about the period, place and method of implementation, and requirements for participation.
This model is the first in Bulgaria and Europe to support the transformation of STEAM education at the city level and stimulate innovation in Southeast Europe.
