How Can Digital Transformation in Education Happen

Yordan Iliev, Co-founder and CEO of MY Synergy, is a guest in the new “Inside View” section

Technologies are now an integral part of education, transforming the way people learn, teach, and access knowledge. They foster not only digital skills, but also critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to work with information. In Bulgaria, there are positive examples, but a systematic approach is still lacking, and technologies are often not used effectively. This was shared by Yordan Iliev, Co-founder and CEO of MY Synergy, in an interview for our new section “Inside View.” Through it, we present our community—the people and organizations behind “EdTech Bulgaria”—through their ideas, experience, and perspectives on education and technology. MY Synergy is a member of “EdTech Bulgaria.”

According to Yordan Iliev, the main challenges facing edtech are not related to the technologies themselves, but to their implementation—there is a lack of strategy, resistance to change, and insufficient capacity. In his view, the solution lies in a clearer vision, working on real needs, and building strong partnerships. Initiatives like “EdTech Bulgaria” help create the necessary connectivity between stakeholders in the sector.

The edtech ecosystem in Bulgaria needs greater consistency, real environments for testing and implementation, and better access for companies to educational institutions, Iliev says in the interview. Startups should focus on real problems and user needs.

“Bulgaria has the potential to become a leader in edtech, but in specific niches such as medical education and data-driven solutions,” Yordan Iliev also noted.
