In May 2025, EdTech Bulgaria participated in the School Innovation Summit in Lisbon – a leading European event for the future of digital education. There, we represented the country as the National Contact Point to the European EdTech Alliance (EEA) and engaged in discussions on key topics affecting every school, teacher, innovator, and policymaker working in the field of education.
📌 What was discussed and why does it matter?
➡️ Digital well-being of students: New tools for self-assessing digital well-being allow schools to evaluate whether the digital environment they create is balanced and supportive for students. For every school in Bulgaria, this is a real tool for action, without the need for complex processes or additional funding.
➡️ Artificial Intelligence in Schools: The European Commission has presented updated guidelines for the use of AI in education, which help teachers and principals make informed decisions. If you are working on educational solutions that use data and AI – this is essential reading.
➡️ Cybersecurity and Anti-Cyberbullying: Projects like Digital Leaders in Portugal and Anti-Phishing campaigns provide examples of how students can be involved as active participants in creating a safe school environment.
➡️ Support through Technology: Iceland and Norway have demonstrated good practices for supporting students with special educational needs through technology. For every Bulgarian school looking for a better inclusive environment, there are valuable ideas here.
➡️ Innovations in the curriculum: Documents for high-quality training in computer science and combating the lack of digitally literate teachers form the basis for strategic planning in schools, universities, and educational projects.
🧠 Benefits for everyone in the ecosystem:
- Teachers and directors: access to European guidelines that can be implemented immediately.
- EdTech companies: specific needs that your solutions can address.
- Politicians and experts: proven policy models based on data and best practices.
