EdTech Bulgaria actively participated in the development of guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in schools in Bulgaria. The initiative is of the working group at the Ministry of Education and Science for the digitalization of education, established in January 2024, which aims to discuss and adopt key priorities in the process of digitization of pre-school and school education and to formulate a vision of the related processes and outcomes for the next 5-10 years. Among its tasks is the preparation of guidelines for using AI, which aim to support teachers and raise their awareness.
In the document are presented examples of how artificial intelligence can improve learning processes, promote an individual approach and contribute to increasing student outcomes. Potential risks have also been carefully analysed, including specific scenarios in which use needs to be precisely managed. The described guidelines and specific situations can be useful to teachers, students and parents, and can be applied in various pedagogical scenarios and operations in the learning process.
„Students and teachers need to adapt to thrive in the digital age. Encouraging cooperation between teachers and students and the use of artificial intelligence, communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills are central to the formation of the workforce,“ commented Albena Spasova, co-founder of EdTech Bulgaria.
