Albena Komitova

The Change in Education Starts with a Shift in Mindset

“The main barrier to educational technologies is the fear of change.” This was stated by Albena Komitova, lawyer, mediator and trainer at the Dispute Resolution Center, in an interview for our new “Inside View” section. In it, we present our community — the people and organizations behind EdTech Bulgaria — through their ideas, experience, and perspectives on education and technology. The Dispute Resolution Center is a member of EdTech Bulgaria.

Komitova described educational technologies as an “amplifier” that expands teachers’ capabilities and turns learning into a more active and personalized process. According to her, the key challenge is not technological but psychological.

“Overcoming this resistance requires support and building teachers’ confidence, not just technical training,” she emphasized.

She noted that Bulgaria stands at a crossroads between strong innovative potential and uneven implementation of educational technologies.

She envisions the future of the sector as hybrid and human-centered — with technology handling routine tasks, while teachers remain at the core as mentors, inspirers, and mediators.
